Batman no joke

Riddle me this, riddle me that. Who’s afraid of the big black bat? Apparently no one since the movie raked in a record 66 plus million for one day and a record $155. for the weekend.

I haven’t seen the movie, but my nephew was there for the first midnight show in our area–come to think of it, he never did call to tell me what he thought of it. As y’all know, I’m much more of a Netflix kind of gal. I watch when I can eat my own damn popcorn. LOL

But does this whole hoopla strike anyone but me as being kind of morbid? I mean doesn’t it seem like folks want to see it just because Heath Ledger is dead? I’ve been a big fan of his since the commercial bomb but personal love, A Knight’s Tale, so it’s not as if I haven’t been following her career. Still, I wonder if people would be so quick to rush out to see the movie if Ledger had lived.

But let’s focus on the positive. It doesn’t surprise me there’s Oscar buzz around his performance. I hope he gets the nomination at least. I still loved Jack Nicholson as the Joker, though. Eventually I’ll see this new one to compare.

The movie is actually better then all the hype surrounding it.

I’ve never been a Batman fan, so I’m waiting until it comes to the dollar movie. There are only certain movies I’ll pay to see on opening weekend — certain actors I have to support with my dollars - Tyler Perry, Will Smith (Hancock was fantastic) and Vin Diesel (I’ve been a sold-out Dieselmaniac for seven years now.) The next one I’ll see at a regular theater is Babylon A.D.

I’m curious to see the film, but I’m a netflix chick too so it’ll probably next summer before I get to see whether the film lives up to the hype. I have a hard time believing anyone can beat Jack Nicholson’s performance-maybe that’s showing my age. I’m bias. I, too loved A Knight’s Tale but maybe that’s just the romantic in us. I also loved the controversial film Brokeback Mountain. It, too was a romance of a different kind. I do wonder why out of the cast of Batman Begins why Katie Holmes wasn’t asked to return-instead Maggie Gyllenhaal replaced her. Does anyone know the scoop on that?

    Hehe Adrianne,

It is speculated that hubby refused to let babywife grow a decent career, but who knows? As far as I’m concerned, Holmes is a case study on being careful what you wish for. She wanted Cruise since she was a girl; now she’s got him. How much do you want to bet that the fantasy was better than the reality?

    All the best,

About wanting to see it because Keith Ledger died. I can kinda see how you would think that, apparently the guy was hot or something, but when I heard Keith Ledger died my first question was, “Who the hell is he?” then, “did they finish filming Batman.”

    “yes.”

“Thank God, sucks about Keith though.”

The cool things about Batman is he’s like every dudes dream, super rich, cool gadgets, fights for justice but in a cool kick-ass Dirty Harry way, and he wasn’t born on another planet, he’s just a guy. After seeing Batman begins - that they didn’t treat it like a joke, but how the original comic intended - I was hooked. Dark Knight is the best super hero movie ever, and Batman begins is number 2. The other superheros have a lot of catching up to do.

I really don’t think the popularity has anything to do with Keith dying, but that it was just an awsome movie, and I’m not saying this just because you’re supposed to be extra nice after someone passes, but he is the best Joker ever, sorry Jack.
