A story being good is more important than a story being original. Readers don’t actually care all the much about plots. Readers care about characters. As long as you create unique, believable, and compelling characters that the reader can connect with, the rest will fall into place naturally. Plots become worthwhile and interesting only after the reader cares about the people involved.
