Oh, the Humanity!!!

Why, oh, why do they keep letting Nicole Kidman ruin perfectly good films? Can someone explain this to me? It’s bad enough when she appears in first-run pictures with the likes of her former husbandlet Tom Cruise, who I can’t stand anyway. Then she goes and appears beside George Clooney, spoiling any chance of me getting my drool on (my mind keeps thinking what kind of dufus must he be to like Nicole Kidman! Ack! The bomb had more of a personality than she did). But now she’s got the nerve to try to remake one of my all time favorite movies The Invasion of the Body Snatchers. That thought is scarier than the concept of the movie. How will the audience know the difference between Kidman before the bodysnatchers get her and afterward? She’s not exactly a bundle of emotions from the get go. On top of that, she’s got to ruin my ubercrush on Bond hunk Daniel Craig on top of it? Will the torture never end???

Oddly, the only movie I liked her in was the one where she was a ghost who’d killed her children. Seemed sort of fitting. Ah well, Netflix can keep that new bodysnatchers when it comes out.

I thought I was the only one who thought Nicole lacked any kind of personality… LOL. And oddly enough I too enjoyed her in the film where she was the ghost that killed herself and her children… Interesting… LOL.

Add me in. I’ve never understood the fascination with this woman. She’s white as a ghost with no personality. And folks call her beautiful. She’s not even pretty. I thought for sure both their careers were over with the debacle that was Eyes Wide Shut, but damn she just keeps rolling along.

I have to say I’m not really familiar with Nicole Kidman other than I like many of her fashion choices at awards shows. Don’t remember seeing her act in anything. (I’m terribly removed from pop culture.) I do know she adopted a black baby, so she can’t be that bad a person. (I’ll admit to not being a big enough person to adopt a white baby.)

But I saw a commercial for her upcoming movie just last night and said to myself, Didn’t they already DO a remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers?

Am I nuts or has this remake already been made? (I, too, love the original and watch it whenever it’s on TCM.) With all of today’s talented sci-fi writers, can’t they find some material to adapt for the screen? Octavia Butler, anyone?

    How ladies,

I wasn’t expecting so many folk to agree with me on this one. LOL I don’t know if I would call myself a hater–that’s such a strong word. I’m a Nicole-disliker ha ha. But if she’d just stay on her side of the universe, I’d stay on mine. She just keeps showing up on my TV–something I cannot abide. Ah, well. What’s a girl to do?

    All the best,
    Dee

Okay, I like Nicole. I think she’s got spunk, er, guts or whatever. Admittedly I haven’t watched many of her movies. But still, I think she handle the whole Tom thing with class. So far I’m the only one trying to get Nic’s back :)

    Hey Lynn,

Glad to see you here! I have no problem with Kidman as a person. I just don’t want to have to look at her. LOL Her acting persona leaves much to be desired to my mind. Rather wooden.

I absolutely loved what she said after the breakup with Tom when someone asked her what she was going to do now. Her response: wear heels. Now you gotta love a girl for that.

    All the best,
    Dee

I feel your pain. She ruined Bewitched, and don’t even talk about that movie Birth. However, she was good in that movie where she seduced Joaquin Phoenix to kill Matt Dillon.
