I don’t know what it is about airline travel that seems to knock the stuffings out of me–not so much when I get to my destination, but when I get back? I’ve spent the last couple days battling a cold or something like it. Or maybe my system has rid itself of enough nicotine to start flushing out other toxins as well. Who knows? But if you’ve been wondering why I’ve posted so little since coming back from Slam Jam, that is why.
Thanks to all of you who have offered me encouragement in my bid to stop smoking, both here and elsewhere. It has been both harder and easier than I anticipated. Thanks to you and my family I am still going strong.
Now I better get some work done today. I’m way behind where I want to be on some things. See you folks tomorrow!

The stuffiness after airline travel is directly related to cabin pressure. The sinuses don’t like it. Some folks have ear pain but most don’t realize that their sinuses (eyes, nose, throat) are affected too. One way to combat this is to drink water, as much as is reasonable, before, during, and after flight. The water also helps to your water retention level down, so your hands and feet don’t swell during flight.
Feel better.
I always get sick after flying too. I didn’t realize it could be a sinus thing. I do have sinuses from hell so it does make sense. Hit some vitamin c. Its a great anti-oxidant. You don’t have to take pills if you don’t want. Just eat fruit and drink fruit juice.
Glad you are staying the course. One day at a time. It will get easier.
ahhh…not so good way to end a trip. Hope you are feeling better by now!
Dee, I know you will bounce back and be like your old self. There are times when we slow down a bit and feel that there’s something wrong, but in reality there’s room for moderate pacing to allow the surging steam to get to where you are used to operating.
Now, about your giving up smoking — BRAVO!! Half the battle is already won, and you know what? The Lord is running along side of you encouraging and cheering you on!
Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement. I am finally feeling better. It feels like a whole bunch of toxins have cleaned themselves from my system and what’s more, I feel ready to write again. Woo hoo. Now which project was I working on?
