No, not the exciting kind where something good happens to you. The bang in question is the collision of a black Mustang with my little hooptie station wagon on the corner of Gun Hill and Allerton Avenues here in the Bronx. Some Yahoo decided to make a right turn from the left lane and KAPOW! Needless to say, I was not amused, especially since I was on my way to enjoy my third favorite vice–a gigunda coffee from my neighborhood Dunkin’ Donuts.
Luckily, I was unhurt, the folks who rammed into me were unhurt, my car was fine except for the big dent in the front driver’s side which makes it impossible to open my door all the way. As my grandmother would have suggested, I’m glad to let that be the worst thing that happens to me.
In many ways 2006 has been a stinky year for me and those close to me and I’m glad to see it end. Yet, for some bizarre reason, I’m feeling very hopeful for 2007, despite the fact that I have nothing scheduled to come out at the moment. Maybe I whacked my head and didn’t notice it, but I’ve got nothing to complain about.
Goodbye 2006. You couldn’t end fast enough. Welcome 2007. Let’s hope you’re a bit nicer than your baby brother.
Wishing all of you a wonderful New Year that holds all you hope for.
All the best,
Dee
